Served as a beat reporter and sports editor for award-winning Valdosta State newspaper, The Spectator. Training and background include expert learning in AP style, written and oral communication through interviewing and inverted pyramid, feature and column style story writing. Worked high school beat writer, covering four local high schools for three different newspapers at The Wylie News, The Sachse News and The Murphy Monitor.

Wrote weekly advances, feature, game stories, breaking news and general news stories for the sports section, writing 12-15 stories per week.

Managed the Twitter accounts for all three local newspapers to post scoring updates and analysis at sporting events in the community. Increased social media presence where all five newspapers now have over 1,000 Twitter followers. Used social media to break news and offer insight into athletics.
